DAY 2

Tour of Cape Peninsular

Today, you will enjoy a magical, full-day tour that explores the wonders of the Cape Peninsula, taking you from the heart of the Mother City to the very tip of the Cape of Good Hope, and the beautiful gardens of Kirstenbosch.The tour begins along meandering coastal roads to the quaint fishing village of Hout Bay. Here you will visit the fish market and, weather permitting, take a trip to Seal Island to see a breeding colony of Cape Fur Seals. Continuing from Hout Bay, the tour ventures along Chapman’s Peak Drive where the curving route borders a sheer cliff drop to the sea below with the towering mountains rising above the inside lane. Next stop is the Cape of Good Hope, where you can walk to the very tip of the Cape Peninsula. Listed as a World Heritage Site for its spectacular natural beauty and bio-diversity, this is the perfect place to stop for lunch. From Cape Point, you will pass through the naval town of Simon's Town en route to see an African Penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach. The last stop of the tour is at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where you can stroll around the beautifully manicured surrounds and see over 3,500 species of Southern African fauna and flora. End the day with homemade scones and delicious coffee at the garden café, before heading back to your hotel.

Cape Town's Wine Region Discovery

Spend the day exploring some of the Cape’s most beautiful wine country as you take in the valleys of Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. The day’s wine-country ramble begins in Paarl, the third oldest town in South Africa which is renowned for its scenic beauty and fruit-growing heritage. Be sure to taste some of their best vintages at one of the local wine estates. From Paarl, you will meander through vineyards and mountain backdrops to the Franschhoek Valley and the Francophile village of Franschhoek, founded by the French Huguenots after their exodus to Africa. This far-flung French corner produces superb wines and French-inspired cuisine. You will have the opportunity to explore the history of the region in the local museums and wineries, where tastings are a delicious prospect. Following a hearty lunch, the tour proceeds to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, dating to the 18th century, and the historic heart of the country's wine region. Enjoy a final wine tasting at one of the region’s best farms before returning to Cape Town. Return to the hotel in high spirits.

Whale-spotting in Hermanus

Enjoy a scenic coastal drive via Gordon’s Bay and Pringle Bay to Hermanus in the Overberg region. Hermanus offers some of the greatest land-based opportunities for whale-watching in the world, and experience the beauty of the majestic Southern Right Whales.Embark on a magnificent coastal drive around Gordon’s Bay and Pringle Bay and on as far as Hermanus in the Overberg region, where you can observe the beauty of majestic southern right whales. The day starts with a winding drive along the False Bay coastline through Gordon’s Bay, Pringle Bay and the exclusive holiday locale of Rooi Els. At Betty’s Bay, you will visit the Harold Porter Botanical Garden, which is a secluded garden located between mountains and sea in the heart of the Cape Fynbos region. From there you will proceed along the coastal road towards the idyllic fishing village of Hermanus where Southern Right Whales come to breed in the bay. This quaint village boasts the natural beauty of the Overberg Mountains and pristine white beaches, both of which offer spectacular hiking trails. Local markets with their boutiques and galleries are the perfect place to take a stroll and sample fresh, local cuisine. You may discover more about the history of the village with a visit to the Old Harbour Museum. Weather permitting, you may also take an unforgettable trip to Dyer Island.
