The Maldives are located in the Indian Ocean and boast a unique geography and topography: they are composed of coral atolls perched on top of underwater mountain ridges. The atolls are divided as the North Atoll and the South Atoll. Within these atolls are roughly 1,190 paradise islands, made up of soft white sand and surrounded by the turquoise waters which lap the shores.
