About this photo
Olvera is one of the most striking of the pueblos blancos (white towns) that crown the hilltops of Andalucía. A monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on a natural outcrop of rock dominates the lower town, and pilgrims have been known to crawl for miles on their hands and knees, in fulfilment of a vow, to the popular sanctuary of Virgen de los Remedios.
