About this photo
Located in North Vietnam – around 56 miles from Hanoi – is the province of Ninh Binh, which is home to Tam Coc (also known as Halong Bay on land). White limestone rocks covered in green foliage protrude from the ground either side of the Ngo Dong River, with verdant rice fields filling the gaps in-between. The land here is ultra fertile and good for growing rice due to the nutrient rich soil and water from the river. For the most picturesque views of the lushest crops visit from June to August. Add a trip to Tam Coc to any of Insight Guides' trips to Vietnam.
