About this photo

Sheep wander the roads along the unfenced fields of Skye, with no fear of oncoming cars. Over 100,000 sheep of a variety of breeds inhabit this island, the most common is the blackface sheep of Asian origin.

Skye is arguably the most magnificent of the dozens of Scottish islands. It is a romantic, misty isle of dramatic sea lochs, superb mountain landscapes, rocky peaks and breathtaking views. The best time to visit Skye is throughout May and June, when hours of sunlight are the highest.
