About this photo
A small collection of buildings in the village of Saksun in the Faroe Islands. The buildings all have living roofs, which is a long-standing tradition of the Faroe Islands. Living roofs provide added thermal insulation and robust protection from the rain. The Faroe Islands have just 49,000 inhabitants; by way of comparrison, 70,000 sheep live on the islands.
