Sadhu at Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu 04 Jul 2016

About this photo
The sacred Pashupatinath Temple lies on the banks of the Bagmati River on the eastern perimeter of Kathmandu. Come here to witness the smoking funeral pyres and meditating sadhus (holy men) and to absorb the incredible atmosphere. While many of the sadhus (pictured) are genuine, beware of some fake sadhus that surround the temple, dressed to make money off unsuspecting tourists keen to photograph them.
The temple complex is devoted to Shiva, who together with his elephant-headed son, Ganesh, is the most helpful god in the valley.
