Nizwa, an historic town located in Oman's interior, is a popular destination with tourists thanks to its foreigner-friendly approach and splendid sights, including the old Fort and celebrated souks. The latter are known to provide a showcase for Nizwa's craftsmanship, including silver and leatherware. Insight's Best of Oman trip includes a night in Nizwa, with plenty of time to take in the atmospheric city and do some shopping. Immediately south of the souks is the location of Nizwa's famous Friday Market, where hundreds of traditionally-attired locals come to trade goats, cows and other livestock – a lively, smelly and quintessentially Omani spectacle.
