About this photo
It's an armchair on a motorbike – or an alfresco oven. Tuk-tuks have become one of Bangkok's signature means of transport. Originating from the post-war rickshaws, tuk-tuks used to be popular among locals as a means or getting around the city, now they are mainly used by tourists who want the experience of a chaotic ride through the sprawling streets of Bangkok; they are no longer a practical way to get around. Whatever your journey make sure to bargain hard for the fare before you board or set off. Take a ride around the hectic city on any of Insight Guides' Bangkok trips.
