About this photo
The Norman Cathedral of Cefalú was commissioned by Roger II of Sicily following a vow made to God when he was caught in a sea storm. His life was spared and thus he instructed the building of the cathedral which started in 1131. The structure was completed in 1267, over 100 years after the king's death.
