A fisherman and a pair of cormorants on the Li River, China 13 Oct 2017

About this photo
China's Li River runs through a landscape of sheer beauty. Outlandish limestone pinnacles, rising sheer from the otherwise flat terrain of paddy fields, flank its path. Farmhands in conical hats work the rice terraces. Villagers fish on the river from bamboo rafts using trained cormorants, like the one in the photo. This is the classic Chinese landscape familiar from so many scroll paintings. Enjoy an excursion on the Li River with Insight Guides' The Best of China trip.
